In fact, Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) was founded in 1921 by the China Medical Board in New York under the Rockefeller Foundation of the United States. After 89 years, PUMCH is a public hospital and has become a large health system, with a complete scope of medical practices, numerous first-class medical professors and a large number of advanced medical equipments, many of which have reached the international level. The overall strength and influence of the hospital persistently make it hold the leading position in China.
International Medical Services (IMS) offers high-quality medical services for the international patients who work in embassies or as foreign company representatives in Beijing or as tourists from over 120 countries, and also for domestic patients who demand international style care. International Medical Services and Department of Health Care have a space of 9206 m2 for outpatient clinic, emergency services, and 149 inpatient beds. Now the number of outpatients is about 50 000, inpatients 2 500, over 1 000 operations per year. IMS provides weekday (except holidays) outpatient services, vaccination, physical examination, and 7/24 emergency services.
